Nick Drake’s “The Road” is matched both in sound and personality by Jose Gonzalez’s “Hints”. Both artists share a similar classical guitar style, however, Gonzalez maintains his signature sound by incorporating a distinct Spanish style to his music.
Lucky for us, Gonzalez only shares similarities in musical stylings with Drake but does not share Drake’s severe depression which lead to his overdose and resulting death in 1974. We get to reap the benefits of Gonzalez’s success and anticipate (hopefully) many more incredible albums to come.
And to Nick, thank you for starting a musical legacy that will live on, even though you could not.
